I make the basic black coffee concentrate using moka pot/ french press/ South Indian filter vessel/ home espresso machine, using various combinations of powder to achieve a 'substance base' of pure coffee and 'flavor overlay' of coffee-chicory. I usually use this black concentrate to make our famous 'South Indian filter coffee' which is a mix of black coffee decoction, hot milk and sugar. I also like to add cold milk to the black base to make iced coffee.

Dec 17, 2017 at 17:49 | comment | added | English Student | We live in South India, right in the middle of coffee growing country and the best coffee is inexpensive at the source: that means experimentation with brew combinations is highly affordable; we also get gifted finely ground coffee powder by the makers, and I literally have more coffee powder at any time than I can finish brewing. Ironically the people in my home state prefer tea which is also a major product of this region. In fact tea is more popular than coffee all over India. I am very sensitive to caffeine and decaf absolutely didn't help me but I am sure you will find it helpful @eddyce.

Dec 17, 2017 at 16:45 | comment | added | English Student | So true @eddyce... My only problem is that I can drink only 1 strong coffee a day (equivalent to 2 regular coffees). Luckily my family members will give me 3 orders and drink my coffee.
